Last normal session tonight…

Turn my headphones up

It’s been interesting and what expected was only going to take a week or two went a little over, anyways we’ll be wrapping formal recording tonight at SCS. More updates later, stay tuned for more details on all the sexy stuff coming up regarding the new LP. Yeah Yeah Yeah!

Session 7 & 8…’working in shifts’

Last week KP put the finishing touches on a few songs and last night I think was the first time we were all able to be in the studio together since we tracked drums. Think we’ll be able to wrap this sucker in 2 more sessions and start mixing. Got a ton of shit done last night and finally breathed life into the studio project that is Tuba4. When it’s all said and done there will be about 4 songs we’ve never played out live, which is scary and radical. Stay tuned for the big finish coming seen! We are playing Yeoman’s next weekend, Saturday June 9th w/ Jason Miller…come and get moisturized at the birthplace of the lotion.

PnL/SCS Session 4 Checklist /// 4.18.12 (updated)

Session 4 Checklist

PnL Session #4 was brought to you by Miller High Life & Pyrat Rum…Seen!

About half of the record is a wrap, still got a little of unfinished business w/ all the new new songs…but pretty sure it’s all downhill from here. Last night we focussed on the trumpet as we only had scratch tracks for most of Kenny’s takes and we wanted to give the new ribbon OE just copped some love. Kenny knocked out 4 solid takes getting us closer to the final product, Nowicki stopped by after work so that we could lay down a synth track for the newest of all of our songs ‘Tuba4’. After next week we should be done or very damn close and then comes the best part…the X-Factor Sessions…Yeah Yeah Yeah!!! As always thank you everyone for your continued love & support – the lotion

Day 2 /// Album 2: April 4th, 2012 – Wrap on Drums
Just got the following text confirming that all 10 drum tracks are completed, half were done solo w/o a scratch track, click track or any assistance for that matter…which is totally normal and the textbook way to record a record right? I guess this won’t be a live record after all, but know our 5th member Owen Meats and homey Troy Cedeno will make sure faces will melt by the time it’s all said and done. Tommy & Matt E will be going in later tonight to lay down guitar, keys & bass…not to mention learning the 4 new songs that have never been performed live & only breifly touched upon at rehearsals. I would personally like to thank Poland for spawning one John Nowicki as well his beautiful fiance Dana, the man is a beast in the studio as well in life and there would never be a poetry ‘n lotion without our backbone Nowicki. That’s the update for now, check back later for more udpates. Johnny…go have yourself a fancy beer on us!

This Next One is the First Song on Our New Album…

Day 1 /// Album 2: April Fools Day 2012

I walked into the compound only to see Nowicki taking a nice soak in the new pool at the lovely Seminole Heights recording studio, Short Circuit Studios (Owen Meats, Troy Cedeno & Dillon G.). Nowicki was quite relaxed for 3pm on a Sunday, donning shades a big grin and a cold beer. Not many people know this, but Nowicki is a freak of nature, the son of a bitch already did 3 drum takes by himself. This is typical behavior for drummers with multiple personality disorder, which we fully embrace as a band.  So w/ 3 drum tracks in the bag…and they were all solid after listening to them, Matt E, Tommy & Kenny decided to lend a hand as they provided a scratch track for Johnny to lay down drums on 4 more, one of which was an all live version of Jock Jams and another surprise that may or may not make it on the record. Matt and Owen worked overtime on a few extra tracks, but all in all we got 85% of drums, 3 decent guitar tracks and a hell of a start on this new record. Johnny goes back in on Wednesday to finish drums, then the rest of the gang will do overdubs here and there, which should only take a few sessions. This album doesn’t have a name, and we are still writing songs that will be on the album so stay tuned for more updates from the studio. We’ll be updating our blog along the process.
